About

A made-to-order
knitwear project.

by Alexander Stutterheim

John Sterner is a small made-to-order knitwear project. Each piece is handknitted after order, in the colour, model and size chosen by the customer.

Some sweaters are kept completely plain. Others carry a word, a place, a name or a simple symbol on the chest. The idea is simple: fewer pieces, better pieces, made only when someone wants them.

No stock is held. Nothing is produced before it has an owner. That keeps the process slower, smaller and more personal — and avoids the overproduction that has become so common in fashion.
